Mon District Administration in collaboration with Mithun Rural Development Foundation (MRDF) inaugurated a solar mini-grid pilot project at Chenwetnyu village under Chen Sub-Division on 3rd March 2022. It was inaugurated by C.L. John, MLA 45 A/C Tehok in the presence of Thavaseelan K. IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon; Brigadier Shalendra Katariya (Retired), Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hans Foundation; SDO (C) Chen; District Officers and Village functionaries.
Speaking at the event, C.L. John, MLA expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Deputy Commissioner, Mon for the initiative in installing a solar mini-grid in Chenwetnyu village. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to MRDF and requested them to cover the remaining villages so that other villages can also avail the facility of solar light. He also urged the villagers to co-operate with the MRDF technical staff and work together so that the villagers will benefit from the solar light.
Thavaseelan also highlighted the benefits of solar light. He stated that villagers can now have 24 x 7 power backup which will make life easier for the villagers. The other main purpose of the solar mini-grid is to encourage and support local entrepreneurs. He also expressed optimism that the remaining villages of Mon District would also be connected with solar light very soon.
