Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moreshwar Patil, visited Kigwema village under Kohima district on 29th October 2021.
Addressing the gathering, Patil said that he was overwhelmed by how the villagers welcomed him in a traditional way. He added that no guest is welcomed as warmly as they are in Nagaland and he felt contented to come to the land of Nagas who are known as warriors, the warriors who fought for the development and not for their own self-interest. The Minister of State said that the state government and the central government are working hand in hand so as to ensure the development of the state of Nagaland. "To have a good quality of life, you need to have a good home with a peaceful atmosphere”, he added ".
He assured that the Government of India and the Ministry of the Panchayati Raj would consistently support for the development of Nagaland. He was confident that the Prime Minister will successfully carry out the development of Nagaland as he has focus on the development of the eight North-eastern states.
Earlier, VDB Secretary, Kigwema, Ruokuovikho Chale in a brief note mentioned that the village is endowed with rich historical heritage and is blessed with rich biodiversity and is very much part of world biodiversity hotspot. He also presented an overview of Kigwema Village Development Management Board and stated that the general concept of VDB Development Works are focussed in Sustainable Development, Sustainable livelihood and above all Eco-Friendly development. Bank Sakhi/MBK VLO, Neisanino presented a detailed report on Kigwema VLOS and SHGs under NSRLM, financial reports and inclusions, Institutional building and capacity building, social inclusion and development, livelihood activities and interventions etc.
Advisor, Technical Education & Election, Medo Yhokha in his note of appreciation acknowledged the Minister and his entourage for showing their genuine concern and love for the people of Nagaland and stated that the enthusiasm and the vision of the Minister of State laid a new ray of hope by showing his presence and interacting with the people in the midst of the village community.
Later in the day, Patil unveiled the foundation stone of Sanstriti Kendra cum Development of Playground in the presence of Minister, Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir.
