The Kohima District Workshop on Good Governance Initiatives and Practices, themed “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore,” was held on December 19, 2025, at the DC Conference Hall, Kohima, with the participation of officers and staff of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, emphasized the importance of good governance rooted in accountability, transparency, and efficient public service delivery. He stated that good governance has emerged as a growing trend across India and globally, citing Singapore and Scandinavian countries as notable examples of effective governance systems. Stressing the need for Nagaland to move forward by strengthening its governance mechanisms, Buchem said Kohima district, and particularly the Kohima DC Office, is well placed to set an example in this regard.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the necessity of systematic and disciplined office functioning, with special focus on file management and record-keeping. He underlined the importance of using proper file covers, maintaining accurate indexing, preparing structured notesheets, and ensuring timely processing of files to enhance transparency and efficiency in government offices.
He further elaborated on the introduction of a hybrid governance model combining digital and offline processes. Under this system, documents can be scanned and uploaded through a mobile application, reducing procedural delays and paperwork. All records will be securely stored in a software database, enabling quick access and retrieval while improving overall administrative efficiency.
Concluding his address, Buchem reiterated that good governance is about being answerable for one’s work and ensuring clean, transparent, and efficient public delivery systems. He called upon all officials to work collectively towards improving governance standards in the district.
Earlier, SDO (Civil) Rorheu Peseyie presented a PowerPoint presentation on the district’s Vision and Strategic Framework, focusing on citizen-centric governance under the motto “Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur,” aimed at bringing government services closer to the rural population. The presentation highlighted four key pillars—digital governance and e-services, community-led development, sustainable and inclusive practices, and direct service delivery campaigns. Various initiatives were outlined to enhance transparency, empower local institutions, promote sustainable development, and ensure doorstep delivery of government services, reflecting the district administration’s future roadmap.
The programme was chaired by EAC Imtiyenla K. Presentation included District @100 by ADC Kohima, Roupfukuotuo Noudi. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by EAC Kohima, Ane Khieya.
