The closing programme of the second phase of the Civil Defence Wardens and Volunteers training under the Office of the District Commandant, Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, Kohima, was held on December 18 at the Conference Hall, Agriland Building, A.G. Colony.

The second phase of the training, conducted from December 12 to 18, involved wardens and volunteers from Ward No. 8 to Ward No. 19 and focused on strengthening disaster preparedness and response mechanisms at the community level.

Addressing the gathering, District Commandant Wopenthung Kikon lauded the trainees for their dedication and stated that the second phase of the training had further enhanced community capacity in areas such as first aid, evacuation, search and rescue operations, fire safety and coordination with emergency response agencies. He urged the wardens and volunteers to act as responsible first responders in their respective wards, share the knowledge gained with community members and actively participate in future drills to ensure sustained preparedness.

Thanking the participants, trainers and supporting officials, he expressed confidence that the successful completion of the second phase would significantly strengthen Kohima district’s resilience to disasters.

The programme was chaired by Hajiele Kath, S.I and included invocation, distribution of certificates and vote of thanks by Company Commander, Sinlo Khing, followed by closing remarks and a photo session.
