Joining the rest of the country, Jalukie Town celebrated the 78th Independence Day in a grand manner at GHSS Ground on 15th of August 2024. On the occasion, Advisor, Minority Affairs, Sericulture, Govt. of Nagaland, Imkongmar unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute from the participating parade contingents commanded by ABSI, P. Ponglang Phom. The National Anthem was sung by the students of St. Xavier College, Jalukie. Thereafter, the Special Guest also inspected the parade contingents and delivered his speech.
The parade contingents were: GHSS, St. Xavier College, JNV, ITMS, Barail Valley Hr. Sec. School and Peren District Social Welfare Department Women (Anganwadi Workers & Helpers).
The highlights of the day included cultural displays by GHSS, Jalukie and Maa Tujhe Salaam by Kenlumyile. The event also witnessed the inauguration of exhibition stalls set up by various departments and SHGs of the Sub-Division, while the function was attended by various department officers and staff, public leaders, NGOs, Town Councillors and the general public of Jalukie Town.
Earlier, the celebration began with hoisting of National Flag in all Govt. Offices, Institutions and Private building, while the programme culminated with rhythmic beating of retreat by DEF Jalukie in the evening.
