A Block-Level Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camp under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) was held at the Panchayat Hall, Chedema Village, Kohima Sadar, on 24th June, 2025. The event aimed to ensure the holistic development of tribal communities by bringing government schemes and services directly to the grassroots.

Organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the DA-JGUA programme strives to improve rural living conditions through the saturation of flagship welfare schemes and direct interaction between implementing departments and beneficiaries. Services provided during the camp included Aadhaar registration, Old Age Pension, Widow and Divyang Pension schemes, Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI), Health Camp, Ayushman Bharat, PM-KISAN, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), RDSS & VEMP, National Food Security Act (NFSA) ration card services, PMSBY, PMJJBY, Mudra Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, MGNREGA, CMLIS, and others.

EAC Kohima Sadar, Dr. Riku Khutso, led the programme with an introduction to the DA-JGUA initiative in Kohima Sadar. He expressed gratitude to the various departments for coming together in a coordinated effort to deliver services directly to villagers. He outlined the key targets of the day’s camp, which included one-on-one interaction between officials and villagers, on-the-spot registration, and identification of eligible beneficiaries. 

Emphasizing the essence of the programme, he encouraged villagers to understand the schemes and proactively avail themselves of the benefits without waiting until the last moment.

In her opening remarks, Kewimesin Nriame, EAC (P), outlined the objectives of DA-JGUA, highlighting the need to improve developmental indicators in rural areas and ensure that villages are not left behind. She shared that the district administration has been coordinating closely with 11 line departments to effectively deliver services and identify eligible beneficiaries.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Luolhoulie Chakruno, Secretary of the Chedema Village Council.

The camp also featured presentations by officials from various departments. A representative from the office of the BDO, Kohima, provided an overview of key government schemes being implemented in the district, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS). Jolayi Nienu, CDPO (Tribal), Kohima, spoke on key social welfare schemes such as the Old Age Pension, Widow and Divyang Pension, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) that provides financial assistance directly to pregnant and lactating mothers for their first living child. Jessy Jurry, FM, District Industries & Commerce, Kohima, shared information on entrepreneurship support programmes including PMEGP, the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Scheme, and the Handloom and Handicrafts initiatives under the department. The Medical Department also highlighted schemes such as CMHIS and PM-JAY.

All departmental presentations included detailed information on the various schemes available, their purpose, eligibility criteria, the application process, and how beneficiaries could avail them. This ensured that villagers received a comprehensive understanding of the services being offered.

Throughout the camp, departmental representatives provided on-the-spot registration and guidance to villagers regarding scheme benefits and procedures.

The programme was attended by village representatives from various community groups, departmental officials, and other key stakeholders, reflecting a collaborative effort to ensure the effective dissemination and delivery of government services at the grassroots level.
