Inaugural function of the 45-day skill up-gradation on handloom weaving under SAMARTH (Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector) is a flagship skill development scheme approved in continuation to the Integrated Skill Development Scheme of the Ministry of Textile, organised by the Weavers’ Service Centre (WSC), Dimapur started on 8th September 2022 at Blue Hill Colony, Wokha, with SDO (C) Tsidi as the special guest.
Charity Club Multipurpose Society, Wokha will be the implementing partner for Wokha district. Anuranjan Singh, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow, Wokha took the initiative and facilitated the training programme for the women of Wokha to provide demand-driven, placement-oriented skilling programme to incentivize the efforts of the industry in creating jobs in the organized textile and related sectors to promote skilling and skill up-gradation in the traditional sectors.
SDO (C) Tsidi while addressing the trainees, lauded the Ministry said that instead of focussing only on our traditional method, we have to follow-up and catch up with the modern technologies, modern style and machineries and equip oneself, and learn how to know the ways and means to make use of the technologies.
Assistant Director (Weaving) Weavers Service Centre, Dimapur, Development Commissioner (Handloom) Ministry of Textiles, GoI, Naresh Jambhulkar, dissemination of government schemes under the MoT, said the institute implements cluster development model with the objective of stimulating dormant cluster by intervening in the areas of production, technology, marketing, and skill development to enhance productivity, competiveness with collective efforts and initiatives of individuals units. He also encouraged the trainees to make proper use of the 45-day training programme and urged them to come forward and avail the opportunity.
Chairman, Lotha Hoho, Mhondamo Ovung said Ministry of Textiles GoI imparting training is a very good initiative, as skill knowledge is one of the key components for sustenance of one’s livelihood and also to boost the economy of the county. Stating that degree alone cannot help but having skill knowledge can help sustain life, he encouraged the trainees to be dedicated and to put into good use, the skill knowledge they are going to learn in the training.
President, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Thungbeni Ngullie said looking at the present scenario where unemployment is an issue, she opined that such initiatives will ease and open opportunities to become self. Any training once instilled is for lifetime, and one should use training skills to make their livelihood.

Benrilo Tsopoe, Media & Information Secretary, Charity Club Multi Purpose Society, Wokha and the vote of thanks was delivered by Anuranjan Singh, Skill Development Officer, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
