The 11th International Day of Yoga was observed on 21st June 2025 at the auditorium of Dimapur Government College. It was organised by Dimapur Government College in collaboration with the Dimapur District Administration under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Associate Professor and Coordinator of IQAC, Dimapur Government College, served as the chairperson and Biswajit Sarkar, Associate Professor, DGC, presented a brief overview of the International Day of Yoga’s vision and structure.

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, in his address, stated that the initiative is aimed at promoting the physical and mental well-being of everyone, encouraging the integration of yoga into daily life. He noted that while yoga was once perceived as being linked to a specific religion, it is now globally recognised.

Dr. Chang remarked that yoga is not only celebrated in India but across the world, promoting inner peace and holistic health. He emphasised that regular yoga practice contributes to improved physical fitness and mental clarity. Encouraging everyone to adopt yoga beyond just the annual celebration, he said,  that Yoga should not be confined to one day, but it should become part of our everyday routine so that we may lead healthier and more balanced lives.

He also expressed gratitude to Dimapur Government College for hosting the programme and appreciated the Marwari Yuva Manch for providing refreshments to the participants.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from heads of offices, staff from various government departments, faculty members, and students.
