District Administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Sakhi-One stop Centre Longleng in collaboration with Phom Student Conference Longleng Observed Culmination program of 16 Days Activism cum Human Rights Day under the theme “Unite! Invest to prevent Violence Against Women & Girls” at DPDB hall DC Complex Longleng on 9th December 2023.
In his introductory note SDO (Civil) & Nodal officer BBBP/DHEW, Longleng Meyaz talked about Non-violence against women and child and said that there are so many rights and power given by the Government to protect Women and children. He urged women and young ones to understand and exercise the rights given to them by the government. He ended his speech saying “Ignorance of law is not an excuse”.
Women Secretary, PBCA, Longleng P. Angbhenla Phom in her speech said that, in the olden days, in Phom culture, there are no such things as harassment, violence, or ignorance of women and children. With supportive society and parents, they are so honouring and women prosper in certain field that are made for them. She also said that in this present day, gently and suddenly we are becoming victims of violence. She encouraged women and chid to consult or report problem to the higher authority if they face harassment. She also said that every individual has the right to be informed about their rights and duties.
Special number was presented by HelaJaa Wung and the programme was chaired by DEO DHEW Longleng N. Sangla Phom. Pledge on “16 Days of Activism Against Gender - Based Violence” was administered by Case Worker OSC Longleng, Shandimoinyei A. Phom.
