            The 1st Ntu Martyrs Open Volleyball Tournament kicked off program was held on 6th April 2021 at Ntu Village under Tening Sub-division in Peren District with Advisor for Water Resources Department, Namri Nchang, as the Special Guest. 

            The tournament was organised in memory of five martyrs of Ntu village who sacrificed and laid down their lives in defending the village and the Nagas pride during the late 1950s.

            Namri Nchang emphasized on the importance of sports in a person's life and encouraged the participating teams to do their best. He stated that sports is a part of self-education which improves health and motivate oneself in various walks of life. To be a good sports person he urged the gathering to be physically and mentally fit. He also spoke on various policies of the government to promote sports. Referring to Khelo India, Catch them young tournament which has been launched to encourage and pick up young talents in the country, Namri urged the gathering to strive for excellence and work hard to be successful in every.

            Short speeches was also delivered by K. Azanbo and Neiba Newmai. The programe was chaired by Papibo Pamai.
