The 3rd  winter open Airgun shooting competition organised by the Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland was held at Likya Colony Wokha on 8th Dec 2023. The programme was graced by Sector Command 40 Assam Rifles Lt. Col. D.S Kushwah. Addressing the participants during the function, the Chief Guest emphasised the inherit athleticism of the Nagas, highlighting their robust physique. He urged the Nagas to excel and bring laurel both for the State and the country.

Further, he encouraged the Nagas to joint Indian armed forces stating that besides defence, army also provides premier coaching institute with both Indian and international coaches. He underscored that individuals with state and district level achievements are eligible to apply for such Army sports institute. He also informs that there are various forces in the army like army, navy and air force options and highlighted the potentials for exposure on the international arena.

ASAN President Ajamo Odyuo in his welcome speech remarked achievements citing that 1st Winter Shooting Competition Runners Up secured bronze at the Nagaland Olympics. He further noted that winner of the 2nd winter shooting competition hosted by ASAN is now participating at the National level. 28 shooters took part in the event. Nchumbemo Patton emerges as the champion, while Mhathung Murry and Yibomo Odyuo were the first runner’s up and second runners up respectively.

The function was chaired by Z. Achamo Ovung, while Rev. Ngangnen invoked God’s blessing and vote of thanks was proposed by Chenithung Yanthan.
