The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2024 held at Multi Complex Stadium, Dimapur on 22nd November 2024 concluded with grand closing ceremony, bringing together various departments in a celebration of unity and sportsmanship. Organized under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland, the event highlights the importance of camaraderie, teamwork, and fitness within the public sector.
The closing ceremony graced by Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur emphasized the significance of such initiatives in fostering collaboration among government departments while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. "Everybody is a winner," Sophie remarked, reflecting on the spirit of participation over competition and added that such event should be organized every year as it provides a platform to come together, get to know one another, and to support each other.
Underscoring the role of public servants, the Commissioner encouraged participants to recognize their significance in their respective roles and their collective responsibility to serve the people of Dimapur effectively. "With our own unique responsibilities, we are all important in our roles. Together, we can contribute to help the public and Dimapur as a whole."
The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2024 Championship was bagged by the Medical Department, while the second and third places were secured by Power and Geological and Mining Departments respectively.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang (NCS) along with the organizing committee, expressed gratitude to all participants and departments for their enthusiastic involvement and support in making the event a success.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Zakabo Rotokha, delivering the vote of thanks congratulated the organizer and the participating teams for their collective hard work and dedication which contributed to the successful conduct of the event and expressed his confidence that next year’s event will be bigger and better.
