The 70th All India Cooperative Week was commemorated with enthusiasm and zeal at the Town Council Hall in Phek on 20th November 2023. The event centered around the theme, “Role of Cooperatives in Making India a $5 Trillion Economy and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
The special guest for the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Kuko Mero, NCS, addressed the gathering, urging the people of Phek district to harness the benefits of “Cooperative Societies.” He emphasized the potential for cultivating vast agricultural lands through cooperative initiatives, enabling diverse forms of agricultural farming.
DC Mero elaborated on the significance of “Cooperative Societies,” expressing appreciation for the farmers in the district actively involved in various forms of farming. He highlighted success stories within the district, commending the achievements of these farmers.
During his address, the special guest shared success stories from Cooperative Societies in mainland India, citing instances where extensive cultivations of sugarcane and almonds were successfully undertaken through cooperative policies. He urged the farming communities to earnestly embrace the principles of “Cooperative Societies” for increased production and sales.
The program, chaired by Jacob Khing of SRCS, Phek, featured a presentation on the Significance of the Celebration Day delivered by Kivi Ritse. A special number was presented by Mathu Farming C.S Ltd of Upper Khomi village in Phek.
A farmer from Tsapvuri Coop. Society Ltd in Phokhungri Town, under the Meluri Sub-Division of Phek district, shared a success story of Cooperative Societies, highlighting the positive outcomes achieved.
The event concluded with an invocation prayer and a Vote of Thanks offered by Moses T. Fithu of Zhupu Baptist Church Agri & Allied C. S Ltd and Tsuknungwati SRCS, Phek.
