The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2024, the biggest College event in Nagaland commenced at Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur, under the theme “Enabling Potentialities “ on 29th October, 2024 . The collegiate meet started on October 29 and will culminate on November 2, 2024.
On 30th October, 2024, the inaugural guest, Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN, Government of Nagaland, unfurled the ANCSU flag marking the official start of the meet. In his Inaugural speech Abu Metha, urged students to recognize the opportunities and responsibilities they hold as representatives of their state in a fast-evolving global landscape. Highlighting the pace of change driven by technology, he emphasized how Nagaland’s unique geographic location makes it a strategic gateway for India to connect with Southeast Asia. “The trans-ASEAN highway that you traveled on to get here is part of a network linking India to countries like Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia,” Metha stated, underscoring Nagaland’s role as a bridge in Asia’s economic landscape.
He encouraged students to embrace this dynamic era with dedication, insisting that success is achieved only through hard work and discipline. “There is no luck in success,” Metha asserted, urging them to put in extra effort to excel academically, athletically, and socially. He referenced India’s standing as the world’s most populous nation and a rising power, foreseeing immense potential for Nagaland’s youth in contributing to this growth.
Metha also addressed for unity, calling the students to rise above divisions and to act as ambassadors who counter societal challenges. Emphasizing the unifying power of sports, he noted, Sports bring more nations together than any other event on earth and today, the students represents a united Nagaland. He encouraged them to look beyond tribal affiliations and embrace a collective Naga identity.
Inspiring students with examples of Naga athletes and artists making strides on the global stage, Metha shared success stories such as world choir game victories, accomplishments of musicians and sports achievements by Naga players. He encouraged each youth in attendance to believe in their potential, envisioning future champions, doctors, scientists, and social reformers among them. Metha concluded by urging the youth to strive for excellence, contribute positively to society and build a prosperous future for Nagaland.
In his keynote address, Tsukjem Lkr, Convenor of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the significance of fostering students’ potential through platforms like the collegiate meet.
Tenyesinlo Bukh, President of ANCSU, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the union’s mission to support the academic, cultural, and athletic pursuits of college students across Nagaland.
Special greetings were extended by Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International College, he praised the dedication shown in uniting representatives from 40 colleges across Nagaland, recognizing the logistical challenges of hosting over 1,000 attendees daily. The power of collecltive effort, envisioning a future where the state’s diversity serves as a strength rather than a divide. Sema encouraged students to support each other, remain resilient in the face of setbacks, and pursue their dreams actively with a focus on purpose and faith. He urged the youth to abandon complacency and work toward a self-sufficient future, reminding them that progress begins within.
President Naga Students Federation, Medovi Rhi, in his greetings said the theme ”Enabling Potential,” highlights the resilience and determination of Nagaland’s youth to rise above challenges and contribute to a brighter future. He emphasized the importance of skill development and critical thinking in today’s rapidly evolving society, especially as Nagaland faces limited educational resources and socio-economic challenges. Rhi urged students to harness their full potential and support each other in becoming change-makers. He reaffirmed the NSF’s belief in the strength and integrity of Naga youth, encouraging them to lead with purpose. This gathering, he noted, strengthens bonds and instills a shared responsibility for community growth.
The administration of oath was conducted by Duve Tetse-o, Games & Sports Secretary, ANCSU, with Benjong Longchar, Member of the Organizing Committee, as the Chairperson. The ceremony began with an invocation led by Rev. Yimtsu Yanthan, Associate Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church, Diphupar. A stirring rendition of “Rise Up” was performed by Akokla Langu, the winner of the ANCSU Virtual Solo Singing Competition 2021, and a special Japanese song was presented by Arms Incorporation.
