An awareness camp for adolescent girls on women's health was organised by the department of Social Welfare under Jakhama ICDS Project in convergence with Health and Family Welfare department at GMS Kigwema village, Kohima on 13th September 2024.

During the program, Health Educator PHC Kimipfüphe, Awheno enlightened the participants on what is anaemia, its causes, symptoms and cure. She said that anaemia can be controlled through proper diet and medicine. Loss of appetite, shortness of breath and fatigue are the sign and symptoms of anaemia she added.

District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Kohima Gender Specialist, Kesoneinuo also spoke at the program and distributed sanitary pads to girl students.

Supervisor, Diethovino Lhoushe who chaired the program also delivered keynote address. She said, Poshan Maa  campaign which is India's flagship programme launched by the Prime Minster to improve nutritional outcome for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Earlier, Avizono Yhoshü AWW invoked God's blessings while Teacher R. Alex Phira proposed welcome address and Poshan Block Coordinator, Kikrukhrielie Nagi pronounced vote of thanks. Anaemia campaign was also conducted along with free health screening by the medical team PHC, Kimipfüphe during the awareness program.
