Tug of war in traditional Naga Style competition was held at the main arena of Naga Heritage village Kisama during the on going 25th Edition of Hornbill Festival on December 5th 2024.

Tug of war is one of the Naga traditional sports that has the potential to boost community spirit and elevate participants to compete at various levels, including State, National, and International events.

The participants were from  tribal troupes consisting of eight participants from each tribe who have come from different districts representing the tribes of Nagaland. The event was organised by the Department of Youth Resource & Sports.

The first place for men category was bagged by the Angami tribe. Second by the Garo tribe and third by the Konyak tribe. Under Women category the first place was bagged by the Angami tribe, Second by the Sangtam tribe, and third by the Kachari tribe. Winning team for both men and women walked away with twenty five thousand cash prizes, runners up with fifteen thousand and the third prize with ten thousand each. The game of Tug of war drew a large  crowd jumping, cheering and supporting their respective tribe's performance.
