The Directorate of Minority Affairs, Government of Nagaland, organised an Awareness and Sensitization Programme on Minority Welfare Schemes at the DC's Conference Hall, Peren on 12th February 2026.
Delivering the keynote address, Director, Directorate of Minority Affairs, Rohit Singh, IAS, informed that the Minority Affairs Department is a newly created department, established in 2023, and that the visit to Peren marked the sixth district covered in the State. He stated that at the national level Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains communities are recognised as minority communities however, in the context of Nagaland, Christian minorities constitute the beneficiary group. He added that the district-wise outreach programmes are being undertaken to create awareness among the stakeholders on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and welfare initiatives of the Department.
A PowerPoint presentation highlighting the schemes implemented by the department was presented during the programme. LDA, Lily Tungoe elaborated on the Minority Scholarship Schemes, while Joint Director, Directorate of Minority Affairs, Andrew C. Imti presented details of the Micro-Credit Scheme under NMDFC and PM VIKAS, focusing on financial assistance and livelihood generation opportunities for minority beneficiaries. Project Officer, Shalo Khing highlighted the objectives and components of PMJVK.
The programme was attended by heads of departments and offices, district administration officials, town and village council representatives, and members of various faith-based organisations.
The programme was chaired by Joint Director, Directorate of Minority Affairs, Andrew C. Imti. The welcome address was delivered by ADC Peren, D. Robin, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Chair.
