An awareness program under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign) was successfully organized at Thonoknyu town, on 31st May 2025.  The campaign aims to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle among the youth.

The event was held under the theme "Empowered Youth, Addiction-Free Future," highlighting the vital role that young people play in building a progressive and drug-free society.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, P. Mono, expressed concern over the growing issue of drug addiction in the state, particularly among the younger generation. He emphasized that substance abuse not only affects the individual but also has far-reaching consequences for families and the broader community. Stressing the need for early education and community involvement, he noted that addressing substance abuse is a collective responsibility.

The awareness campaign is part of a nationwide initiative under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, aimed at eradicating substance abuse from the grassroots level.

The program included informative sessions, as well as details on counseling resources available in the region for those struggling with addiction. A large number of government officials, community leaders, teachers, health workers, church leaders, and school students attended the event, showing strong community support for the cause.
