Having concern over the rising cases of vector-borne diseases in the district, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mon organised an awareness programme at the ADC conference hall, Tizit on 3rd December 2025.

Addressing the gathering, the ADC Tizit, Relise Sangtam, encouraged all the participants to actively spread awareness in their respective areas. He reminded the public of the importance of properly clearing drains, preventing water logging where mosquitoes breed and keeping the surroundings clean.

Deputy Director, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Dr. Tinurenla Anichari, informed that 51 dengue cases had already been reported in the district from mid-November to 2nd December. She urged everyone to remain alert, take necessary precautions, and strictly follow prescribed medications. She added that the team conducted tests on individuals living around confirmed cases, and if found positive, they are provided medication and made aware of preventive measures. She further stated that details of all positive cases, including name, age and location, are sent to the Government of India, stating that even a single positive case is treated seriously as a matter of community concern.

Assistant Director, UVBDS Dimapur, Kikohul and District Vector Borne Officer, CMO Mon, Dr. Abenthung Murry, also sensitised the gathering on vector borne diseases.

The medical team included PH & Training Consultant, NVBDCP, Imsubenla, DVBDC, CMO Mon, N. Nokman, and Insect Collector, Dimapur, Tsukote.

The programme was chaired by SDO (Civil) Tizit, Tumben P. Tsanglao. All ward chairmen, GBs representatives from various unions of Tizit Town attended the programme.
