In her address, Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT, Government of Nagaland, Kevileno Angami, expressed gratitude to the Chief Secretary for initiating and steering a series of training programmes aimed at upskilling and enhancing the capacities of government officials. She also appreciated the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department and the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) for coordinating the programme, and acknowledged the Director and faculty members for their support and expertise.

Highlighting the significance of data in governance, she stressed that data collection should not remain limited to record-keeping but must be effectively analysed and utilised for informed decision-making. She noted that data gathered through surveys and censuses on population, infrastructure, health, education and basic services should be meaningfully used for planning, policy formulation and implementation.

Encouraging the participants drawn from various state government departments, Kevileno Angami called upon them to adopt evidence-based approaches while preparing proposals and making decisions, stating that proposals backed by proper data analysis are more reflective on ground realities and address the actual needs of the people.

She also underscored the need for inter-departmental collaboration and data sharing, stating that data is a valuable state asset and must be properly tabulated, preserved and shared for effective governance. She urged the trainees to make the best use of the training opportunity and to apply and share their learning within their respective departments.

Director, NIELIT for Nagaland & Assam, Er. L. Lanuwanbang highlighted the growing importance of data analytics and digital skills in strengthening governance and enhancing administrative efficiency. He stated that informed decision-making backed by data is essential for effective planning, implementation and monitoring of government programmes.
