The office of the Assistant Registrar, Co-Operative Societies, (ARCS) Wokha, Nagaland, conducted a training on Post Harvest Skilling under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 2023-2024, at Okotso Village, Wokha on 4th October 2024.
In his keynote address, ARCS, Wokha, Obendangba noted that the RKVY scheme which was launched under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, to impart trainings and provides Capacity building programmes to farmers to provide opportunities to come together through Co-Operative societies. He stated that it aims to foster self reliance and economic empowerment through Public participation in the activities of Agriculture and allied sectors as well as to empower the youth through skill development.
Speaking on “Management of Co-Operative Society”, SRCS, Wokha, T. Alanthung Ngullie, emphasised on the Democratic Principles, where every member has a voting right to elect a management Committee to make decision to run their organisation effectively, and to ensure that financial interest and benefits of its members are protected by maintaining proper accounts.
Chief Technical Officer, (Extension) KVK, Wokha, Dr. BL. Mhalo Tungoe, who spoke on "Pest and Diseases Management" stressed that Pest and diseases are part of natural environmental system and in this regard, exercising natural control over them is important by keeping priority for safety of people, safety of environment and preserving healthy soil by avoiding use of man-made chemical products, without proper information. Maintaining balance between pest and predators also helps to keep pest and diseases down to acceptable level, she added, while highlighting on the aspects of Healthy Crop.
In the programme, Agricultural Field Assistant, P. Yanrenthung Patton, spoke on "Post Harvest Management" and Chumlanthung Ngullie, Banking Assistant, NSCB, Wokha, spoke on "Financial Literacy". The programme was chaired by Vikethozo Kiso, ICS, Wokha.
