The Consultative meeting of the Ward Waste Management Committee (WMC) was held under the chairpersonship of Addl. Deputy Commissioner & Administrator, Longleng Town, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, NCS, and discuss issues regarding Sanitation and deliberated on early implementation and activation of Sanitation Services at all Commercial/ Residential areas at Longleng Town.
At the outset, The Chairpersonship welcomed all the members and briefed the house with regard to various public utility services and activation of Sanitation Services through door-to-door collection of waste and appraised the gathering on strict implementation of the new Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The House after through discussion and deliberation adopted the following points to be executed with immediate effect.
1. Door to Door Collection of Segregated Waste to be implemented with immediate effect in all the wards under Longleng Town from 05:00 AM to 09:00 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Thrice Weekly). (Minimum hold of 20 Minutes at each ward)
2. The monthly User Fee Charge for each Household is fixed at Rs. 50/- per Household. Out of which Rs. 10/- per household shall be reserved for Waste Management Committee (WMC)
operations.
3. The WMC shall collect the aforementioned amount and deposit to the Bank and bring the payment acknowledgment receipt/ challan to the office (QR code to be provided) or shall hand over the collected user fee by cash at the office of the Administrator of LTC.
4. The WMC shall identify Waste pick up points and also identify the number of households
and submit the details of the same to the office.
5. The WMC shall make elevated platforms (secondary waste storage depots) subjected to availability of space.
6. All Households under Longleng Town are advised to maintain dual bin segregation.
7. It is further reiterated that WMC & the Longleng Town Council shall impose penalties as per new Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 for unethical littering of Waste product (including disposal of biodegradable waste such as grass, mud or related and animal at secondary storage) and burning of waste product.
8. The ULB shall purchase segregated plastic waste at Rs. 10/- per kg.
9. It was decided that in case of Non-payment of User fee, the ward authorities and department concerned shall refrain from issuing essential documents and public distribution systems.
10. Complaint Redressal cell shall be operated with immediate effect at the Administrator’s office.
11. In case of vehicle breakdown or service disruption, the WMC shall be accordingly intimated.
