The culmination programme of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), organised by the Social Welfare Department, Meluri, was held at the Pochury Hoho Conference Hall, Meluri on June 26, 2026, under the theme: "Drug Free India Identity of a Developed India" 

            Addressing the gathering, EAC Meluri, Zuchibemo Ezung highlighted the vulnerability of Meluri district due to its proximity to the Indo-Myanmar border, where illegal substances such as opium and ganja are often trafficked. He cautioned that drug abuse among young people not only destroys an individual's life but also adversely affects families and the community as a whole. Emphasizing the collective responsibility in combating drug abuse, he stated that the Church, the community, and educational institutions are the three strongest pillars in building a drug-free society.

            Encouraging students to stay away from addictive substances, He also appealed to the students not to hate or isolate those struggling with addiction, but instead to show them love, care, and support so that they can recover and reintegrate into society.

            Pointing out that illegal drug trade exists because of demand, he stressed that eliminating demand is key to ending the supply of drugs. Concluding his address, Ezung said that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan should not remain merely a formal programme but must be translated into meaningful action through the active participation of every individual in society.

            The programme also featured prize distribution for the Marathon race held from nine wards of Meluri Town and a poster drawing competition conducted among students from four schools, namely Government Higher Secondary School Meluri, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri, Christian Higher Secondary School Meluri, and S. Pethüry School Meluri. The poster drawing competition was held in two categories, namely Class 11 & 12 and Class 8, 9 & 10.

            "A pledge against drug abuse was administered by CDPO Meluri, Thorhosie Kajiri. The programme was chaired by Watsüsie, Sr, Supervisor. The welcome address was delivered by CDPO Meluri, Thorhosie Kajiri, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Abigail, Supervisor.
