Deputy Commissioner Level Border Coordination Meeting between Jorhat, Assam, and Mokokchung district was held on 10th July, 2026 at ADC Conference Hall, Mangkolemba, under Mokokchung district. In the meeting, both sides presented a brief overview of border issues and resolved to adhere to the following outcome of the meeting.
It was decided that with respect to Aosenden Village, both districts reaffirmed strict adherence to the status quo as decided in the Chief Secretary Level Meeting held on 31st July 2021 and agreed to refrain from any activity or new construction work which violates the existing arrangement of maintaining status quo.
With respect to Aokum Village, a joint verification of the Aokum area by the concerned Border Magistrates from both sides will be conducted within seven days.
Both sides agreed to have better coordination and response so as to maintain tranquility in the border area, and also resolve that both the district administrations would ensure regular communication and promptly share details of newly transferred Border Magistrates and police officers to maintain close coordination and continuity.
It was also agreed upon for prior intimation for any kind of official border visits and activities, and to keep official engagements into account such as local sensitivities, including Sunday observance in Nagaland.
