A new Dialysis Unit at Hezukhu Memorial District Hospital, Zunheboto, was officially inaugurated on 4th June 2025 by Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS.

While addressing the attendees, DC Zunheboto quoted that "Health is Wealth" and warned that chronic illnesses like cancer and kidney failure could severely impact an individual’s finances. Dharam Raj emphasized that, now with the felicitation of three dialysis unit at the district hospital, the financial burden and physical stress faced by many citizens of Zunheboto, would be eased immensely. Further, DC expressed his contentment towards the felicitation to district hospital and concluded that, district administration stands ready to assist further in the progress of healthcare services of the people.

While chairing the inaugural programme, Senior Medical Officer, Shikato Sema, highlighted on the significance of the unit in improving the quality of life for kidney failure patients. Dr. Sema further mentioned that, while the hospital is equipped with modern technologies, trained technicians, and medical staff, the major challenge remains the availability of sufficient water.

 Delivering the keynote message, Medical Superintendent, S. Kuotsutho stated, we are witnessing a significant milestone in our hospital. This is not just a room filled with equipment, but a place of hope and life-sustaining care, he added. Chronic kidney disease is not a choice; for many, dialysis is essential for survival. With this facility, we aim to provide better and more compassionate healthcare.

SMO, K. Akaho Sema expressed his gratitude to Indian Oil Corporation for sponsoring the initiative, while delivering the vote of thanks. He recalled that, many patients from the district had previously been forced to travel to other areas for dialysis due to a lack of local facilities. Now, with the availability of this unit in our own district, we can help more people and ease their financial burdens,” he added, appealing for continued public support and cooperation.

Earlier in the programme dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Kughavi V. Chishi, Pastor, NCRC Sumi Zunheboto followed by DC, Dharam Raj Inaugurating the unit.

The event was attended by representatives of Sumi Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Kuqhakulu, Zunheboto Town Council, Zunheboto Area Public Organisation, Zunheboto GBs Association, NDPP 35 A/C, Sumi Youth Organisation, and medical staff from the district hospital.
