The five-day District Handloom Expo (DHE) “TANA BANA” is currently underway at the Shepherd High School Ground, Niuland. The expo, which began on January 23 2025 will continue till January 27, is being organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC), Niuland, headed by Functional Manager, Itsato Zhimomi.

The expo was graced by Sara S. Jamir, Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, who lauded the Department of Industries and Commerce for organising the handloom expo to encourage and expand local artisanship. Addressing the gathering, she urged the department to continue supporting local artisans in every possible manner.

Jamir further urged the department for providing necessary training, skill upgradation, and access to modern scientific tools and technologies to improve productivity and product quality among local weavers and artisans.

The event continues to draw public interest and is expected to further promote the growth of the handloom sector in Niuland district.
