The District level Awareness campaign on the settlement of unclaimed deposits was held on 28th November, 2025 at DC, Conference Hall, Dimapur.
The awareness programme is part of a nationwide initiative by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and State Bank of India (SBI) aimed at ensuring faster and efficient settlement of unclaimed financial assets including deposits, dividends, interest warrants, pensions, and other related funds. The campaign seeks to enable rightful customers, nominees, and legal heirs to claim their dues. The campaign emphasizes the importance of disseminating information widely to ensure effective implementation at the grassroots level.
AGM, Reserve Bank of India, Samuel, in his address, said that the campaign is a three- month long at all India level, launched by the Finance Minister on October 4th, 2025, under the theme "your money, your Right". He informed that this campaign will go on till 21st December, so urged the customers to approach their respective bank, Postal Bank or insurance company and find their unclaimed funds or from the online portal link https://udgam.rbi.org.in
He said that in this campaign, four districts have been identified across India and Dimapur is the focussed district. He requested stakeholders to extend full cooperation to make the public-oriented initiative successful and hoped that this campaign will be a successful one.
District Level Lead Manager, Rongsenyangla, speaking on the camp highlighted that the deposits in accounts which are not operated for a period of 10 years are classified as unclaimed deposits. She informed that Dimapur District has 21 banks and in the list of all the banks the total amount lying in the banks of unclaimed deposits is 13 crores 22 lakhs. To claim the money one can visit their branches with a form and KYC documents like Aadhaar, PAN Card, Driving License, 3 passport photos to activate their Bank accounts for claiming their unclaimed deposits, she added.
She urged the public to participate in the camps for timely redressal and settlement of unclaimed deposits of customers and their deceased family members. The camps will have a helpdesk to assist the customers in tracing and claiming their unclaimed financial assets with ease. She also encouraged village councils, GBs, individuals and community leaders to assist in spreading this vital information to ensure that every community is informed about how to trace unclaimed assets.
Representatives who attended the programme were- All Village Council Chairman under Dimapur District; Representatives from Dimapur Urban Colony Chairman Federation; Representatives from GBs Union Dimapur; Representatives from GBs Association Dimapur and bank officials of different bank branches.
