The Finance Department has informed and issued guidelines to claims for Chief Minister’s Life Insurance scheme (CMLIS) stating that with the Assignment of responsibilities at District Level for facilitation to enable beneficiaries to claim benefits under accidental insurance coverage through Chief Minister’s Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS).

To facilitate the nominee of breadwinners and dependents to process the claims under CMLIS during the unfortunate events of accidents including snake bites, road accidents, falling from tree, drowning etc, following guidelines are issued.

1.      Incase of post mortem report, the report shall suffice and shall be enclosed with claim.

2.      Wherever postmortem could not be conducted due to lack of infrastructure in the locality or due to concerns/ restrictions of customary practices, the district administration shall conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit a report as part of the CMLIS claims as detailed below.

a.      Wherever the body has been buried and information reached district administration subsequently, the concerned administrative officer having the charge of the sub-division shall conduct an enquiry to understand the veracity of the claim and submit the report either concurring or disapproving the circumstances associated with the accident with observations.

b.      Instances where the family members have reported in time and the body not buried, the report shall be submitted by the concerned administrative officer with due verification and observations.
