The District Economics and Statistics Office, Wokha, conducted a programme on the first phase distribution of IT equipment and the launch of Aadhaar enrolment for children aged 0–5 years at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha on 5th May, 2026.
Deputy Commissioner and District Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS, delivered a special address and formally launched the Aadhaar registration for children. In his address, he emphasized the importance of shifting toward digital formats, highlighting their role and use cases across different sectors. He also spoke on issues of improper registration and irregularities, stressing the need for awareness and proper use of official channels so that the public understands the significance of birth and death registration as well as Aadhaar enrolment for children.
Additional Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Charles Kikon, also addressed the gathering. He underscored the importance of timely birth and death registration and Aadhaar enrolment for children, while providing detailed insights during the program.
Following the formal proceedings, an interactive session was held where registrars from different villages clarified doubts regarding delayed registration, its consequences and the proper timeframe and place for registration to avoid irregularities and difficulties.
Altogether, 28 villages registered during this first phase distribution program.
