The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, held a meeting with officials of the Department of Health & Family Welfare at Naga Bhavan Conference Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on 20th March 2026.
The meeting was led by the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, S. Tainiu. During the meeting, the Department made a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the State’s socio-demographic profile, health infrastructure, and key achievements in the health sector.
The Department informed that Nagaland has made notable progress in improving major health indicators. The Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) has declined significantly, while the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Total Fertility Rate (TFR) have also shown considerable improvement over the years, reflecting better maternal and child healthcare services in the State.
The officials also apprised the Governor of the performance under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), including improvements in case detection and treatment outcomes. However, certain areas such as timely disbursement under the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana and patient adoption were highlighted as areas requiring further attention.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the department in strengthening healthcare delivery and improving key health indicators. He emphasized the need for sustained focus on effective implementation of health programs, particularly in remote and rural areas, and encouraged the Department to continue its efforts towards ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.
