MLA Achumbemo Kikon inaugurated the Mekokla-Changki Link Road under Wokha and Mokokchung districts, and also celebrated World Environment Day 2025 under the theme "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally" at Dümakvü, between Mekokla village and Changki village on 5th June 2025.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, MLA Kikon recalled how the age-old traditional Mekokla-Changki Link road used to be an important trade route for the Lothas and the Aos of the area, when the forefathers traded amongst themselves goods for daily needs, partly through cash and partly through the barter system.

He added that the connectivity road helped them maintain economic well being and a sense of brotherhood. He also mentioned that the restoration and re-activation of the same road which has been left unused for more than forty years will help strengthen ties and foster better relation among the villagers for a common progress.

MLA Kikon further expressed gratitude to Chief Minister, Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, Advisor, Mhathung Yanthan, and Advisor, Temjenmenba for their instrumental support in reviving and making the historic link road operational again.
During the celebration of the World Environment Day at Mekokla, Additional Deputy Comissioner, Bhandari, Longasen Lotha NCS, officers from Forest department, and Village Council Chairman from Changki village and Mekokla village spoke on the programme.

The programme was attended by a host officers, public leaders from both Wokha and Mokokchung districts and villagers from the nearby villages.
