The Integrated Development Association (AIDA) and Don Bosco Job Placement Network, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour & Employment, National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled Dimapur, NCSC SC & ST Kohima, Employment Exchange Dimapur, and Model Career Centre Dimapur, organized a Job Fair on 5th October 2024 at Don Bosco, Dimapur which aimed at connecting job seekers with employers.

The Job Fair was inaugurated by Advisor for Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Excise Department, Moatoshi Longkumer, In his address, he highlighted the significance of the event, calling it a place where dreams intersect with possibilities. He praised the initiative for bringing together employers and job seekers, fostering a platform for career growth.

Longkumer emphasized the importance of job fairs in bridging the gap between talent and opportunity. He said the job fair connects talent with opportunities, giving businesses the chance to discover individuals who can bring fresh perspectives. He also highlighted the critical role job seekers play, urging them to approach the event with a sense of purpose and commitment.  He stated that for job seekers, this is more than just a chance to find a job, but an opportunity to find a work environment that aligns with the values, passion, and long-term goals.

The Advisor also stressed the importance of a healthy employer-employee relationship in building successful organizations he stated that for any business to grow and thrive, it is essential that employers treat their employees with fairness, dignity, and respect which will  foster loyalty and builds a culture of mutual respect, allowing employees to bring their best selves to work. He encouraged employers to focus on creating supportive environments where employees could flourish and, in turn, contribute to the company’s success.

In addition, Longkumer pointed out the need for employees to remain adaptable and committed, especially in today’s fast-changing work environment. He encouraged the employees to approach their work with sincerity and responsibility as it contributes to the organization’s growth. Concluding his speech, he urged both employers and job seekers to work together to build inclusive and thriving communities.

District Employment Officer (DEO) Dimapur, Gideon L. Sumi, speaking as the Guest of Honour, underscored the serious unemployment situation and urging job seekers to take full advantage of the job fair. He said the job fair is a marketplace where employers come looking for dedicated employees and encouraged everyone to take the opportunity of the program.

Assistant Director of the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dr. T. Mohan, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of utilizing job fairs to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers, particularly in the context of differently-abled individuals.

Welcome address was delivered by Executive Director of AIDA, Rev. Dr. Fr. Roy George SDB while vote of thanks was delivered by Program Coordinator of AIDA-Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Sebi Chacko.

Companies participating in the event included Toka MPCS, SBI Life, Chabou & Co., Quess Corp India, and Employment Providers, with some organizations attending online the job fair is expected to attract more than 400 job seekers.
