A Monsoon Preparedness Meeting was convened on 15th May 2025 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha Town, presided by Deputy Commissioner, Vineet Kumar, IAS. The meeting focused on ensuring readiness as the monsoon season begins across the state.
Discussions revolved around key precautionary measures, including landslide preparedness and the clearing of drainage systems along the National Highway, connecting roads across Wokha town, and the Wokha-Merapani road to prevent blockages and disruptions caused by heavy rains.
Health-related concerns were also deliberated, including the availability of medical equipment and essential medicines, the risk of epidemic outbreaks, and the need for heightened awareness regarding waterborne diseases during the monsoon season. Officials emphasized the importance of proactive health preparedness to safeguard public well-being.
The meeting further addressed the availability of essential commodities, ensuring an efficient supply chain during peak monsoon periods, particularly in the event of disasters or unforeseen crises. Discussions also included resource inventory management and power line maintenance, highlighting the need for uninterrupted electricity supply and infrastructure resilience during extreme weather conditions.
In a significant move toward community-driven efforts, the meeting announced that a mass social work initiative will be conducted across Wokha town on 31st May 2025, aimed at improving infrastructure and ensuring monsoon preparedness at the grassroots level.
