District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Longleng held a coordination meeting on monsoon preparedness on 11th June 2026, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DDMA Longleng, W. Manpai Phom NCS, at DC's conference Hall, Longleng.
The DC, emphasizing that Longleng district lies in a disaster-prone zone, called the officials for heightened preparedness and coordination among all departments to mitigate the impact of natural calamities such as landslides and earthquakes.
He said that while natural disasters cannot be prevented, their impact can be significantly lessened through proactive measures and effective use of available resources. “We may not be directly affected by every calamity, but one way or another, we are impacted. Since we are in a prone area, precautions and preparedness before disaster strikes are crucial,” he stated.
The meeting underlined the need to utilize all existing infrastructure and resources under various departments to their full potential. Officials stressed that disaster response is a collective effort requiring teamwork and active participation from every department and staff member.
“The main purpose of this meeting is to gear ourselves up to face any natural calamity. We must ensure that whatever resources we are provided and equipped with are used with full potential, so that we tackle these issues with reliability and purpose,” the official added.
He urged all line departments to remain on alert, review contingency plans, and maintain inter-departmental coordination to ensure a swift and effective response during emergencies.
In the meeting line departments highlighted their preparations, and for any eventualities during the monsoon.
The meeting focused on identifying availability of resources, developing actions plans and prioritizing key tasks such as maintenance of emergency roads, Medical, food supply, Cooking Gas and over all emergency response machanism. All departments under DDMA Longleng attended the coordinator meeting.
