The 7th edition of MykiFest got underway under the initiative of the Department of Women Resource Development at Directorate of Women Resource Development premises, Kohima, on 2nd December 2025.This event will provide a platform to recognise, promote and celebrate the talents and skills of women across the State.

Speaking at the programme, Secretary Women Resource Development, Zhothisa Dawhuo IAS, highlighted that MykiFest is celebrated to showcase women’s talents and recognise their potentials. He stated that the department is committed to uplifting women through the initiative, held in conjunction with the Hornbill Festival.

He added that festival aimed at breaking barriers, lifting the strengths and potential of every woman, and recognising their talents. He urged everyone present to continue encouraging women to excel and contribute toward building a better society.

He recalled that the Myki brand was established with the intention of empowering women and providing them with a platform to display their skills and creativity. He urged all officers and staff of the department to continue giving their best efforts in strengthening the department’s initiatives.

The Secretary further assured that the department will extend all possible support to uplift women across the State. He also announced that a bigger and better event would be organised at Kisama in the coming years to showcase products made by women, and affirmed that every woman across the State will be given opportunities through such event.

Director, Women Resource Development, Vilone Sakhrie delivering his opening remarks said that the festival is not only a celebration of the achievements of women but also an appreciation of their immense contributions they make in our every day lives. He expressed gratitude to all those present and shared that he was especially glad to see the participants and attendees at the programme.

Earlier during the programme, Zhothisa Dawhuo, IAS, Secretary, Department of Women Resource Development, officially inaugurated the stalls, marking the formal opening of Hornbill cum MykiFest 2025.

It may be mentioned that this year’s event features micro-stalls showcasing products from the apparel and accessories programme, the Food Processing and Resource Centre, and creations from trainees of the Myki training centres in Kohima and Dimapur. The festival will also highlight talented women entrepreneurs, local singers, musicians, and women authors, celebrating the spirit of women-led entrepreneurship and creativity.
