Based on the historical archival records and photographs in the collection of the National Archives of India and State Archives of Nagaland, an exhibition “Naga-Land & People in Archival Mirror”, is being held at the World War II Museum premises, Kisama since 1st December 2024 as part of the 25th Hornbill Festival.   

The exhibition undertakes a journey through history, culture and evolution of Nagaland as captured in archival documents that span centuries and offers a rare glimpse into the past, highlighting key moments that shaped the State and its people.

To create awareness of archival treasurers, the State archives exhibition has been put up to draw attention of the public on the importance of archives as the state’s documentary heritage and to stress the role of archival institutions in restructuring future development.

Running from December 1st to 10th 2024, the exhibition explores key themes of Naga History, Culture and Politics. Rare archival materials, including maps, photographs, and documents, and highlights key narratives such as peace missions, democratic milestones like the 1963 Assembly Elections, political movements, and historic visits by leaders like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi are showcased at the exhibition.
