Mokokchung District Blood Donors Association (MVBDA) in collaboration with 12 Assam Rifles observed the National Voluntary Blood Donors Day under the theme ‘Share life, Give Blood” with the slogan “20 years of Celebrating Giving: Thank You, Blood Donors” at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Conference Hall, Mokokchung on 1st October 2024.

Gracing the event as the guest of honour, Deputy Chairman, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Lanuakum in his address maintained that as a living being, one cannot survive without blood because it is a vital connective tissue that maintains the well-being of our health or life. He further added that as the life span of blood stored in the Blood Bank is only 120 days, one needs to replenished it with fresh batch of blood, which can be possible only through blood donation. He therefore urged the Association as well as the medical fraternity and social organization to sanitizes the community on the importance of blood donation through various forms of media.

Earlier, in the program, President MVBDA, Molo Jamir while sharing the significance of the day said, stared that National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is celebrated on 1st October every year to share the need and importance of the blood in the life of an individual by motivating and encouraging people who are not aware on the importance of donating blood even though being a healthy person. It is also a day celebrated to bring great changes in the society to follow lifesaving service through Blood donation.

The programme was chaired by Bendangtemsu Ozukum while vote of thanks was proposed by Makshi Jamir, DPO (DAPCU). 

A special blood donation drive was carried out at Blood Bank Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital where individual from different walks of life donated their blood.
