In a significant event held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kohima, six newly appointed government nominee members of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) were administered the Oath of Affirmation. The ceremony was conducted under Section 60A (1) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS welcomed the newly appointed members and congratulated them expressing optimism for the future of the Council. He stated, “With your contributions, the Council can now function in full flow, and we look forward to greater achievements. Together, let us work for the welfare of the people and the community. Today marks an important occasion, and its success depends on our collective efforts”
Chairman of the Kohima Municipal Council, Councillor Neikhozo Suokhrie, also addressed the gathering, and described the event as a milestone and shared his vision for the newly constituted team. “It’s an honor to have you all here today. With collaboration and determination, we will accomplish great things for our city. Let us use our collective wisdom to overcome challenges and seize opportunities to serve our people effectively” Neikhozo said.
He further emphasized the responsibility that comes with their roles, acknowledging the challenges of being new to their positions. However, he affirmed the readiness to face the road ahead with dedication and commitment.
The six newly appointed government nominees for the Kohima Municipal Council are Vilaseto Soleho, Keneisezo, Thejapfutuo Khezhie, Dziesekhonuo, Vitso Rio and Kezhazer Angami.
