The Mokokchung Forest Division held its annual review meeting of the Nagaland Forest Management  Project (NFMP – JICA) with the District Advisory Committee at Whispering Winds Conference Hall, Mokokchung on 8th April 2025.

Deputy Commissioner, Thsuvisie Phoji, expressed appreciation for the efforts under the project. He also raised concerns over increasing forest fires, particularly man – made ones. He noted the stress and sleepless nights caused by wildfire threats and emphasized the impact of deforestation and global warming.

He urged stakeholders to take ownership and questioned the sustainability of the project after external funding ends. He encouraged the committee and local leaders to ensure its continuation and stressed the importance of creating natural, not synthetic, resources.
