The facilitation meeting for National Highway 129A Package-1 Peren Town portion was held at Town Hall, Peren on 11th February, 2025. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge of Planning & Transformation and National Highways, Government of Nagaland, T. R. Zeliang graced the facilitation meeting as the honoured guest.
Deputy Chief Minister, T. R. Zeliang stated the importance of good roads, and encouraged the public to co-operate with the District Administration and to settle the damage compensation at the earliest. Zeliang also informed that the Technical Evaluation is under process at NHIDCL Headquarter and four firms have participated in the bidding, and that the period for completion would be 18 months from the appointed date. The successful implementation of this project will change the face of Peren town.
Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru, NCS said that good roads will promote development and progress in the region. He encouraged the Peren town public leaders to have regular and timely meetings in order to give their support in the process of work development and to assist the workers.
In the meeting, short speeches were delivered by Machi Reunim, President of Peren Town Youth Organization on behalf of the affected owners, Hairiesong Siang, Liamchu Hega, Chairman of Peren Village Council, Gaigwang Hegeu, Convenor (JAC) Pelingrangle, President of Peren Town Women Welfare Organisation and Mireulung Sephe, Chairperson of Peren Town Council. The landowners and the affected landowners openly declared that they are willing to co-operate and give their land for the welfare of the public.
Deputy General Manager (Projects) NHIDCL, PMU-Dimapur, Anand Kumar, highlighting the project of NH 129A Package-1 of Peren Town Portion, stated that 129A Peren to Dimapur section starts from Dzukou River Steel Bridge (Manipur) border to 7th Mile Chumukedima, a total length of approximately 81 Km, divided into six packages. He stated that the project has been conceived with the aim to provide good quality highway. He added that the National Highway 129A will serve as an alternate route to Manipur connecting Nagaland. Anand Kumar highlighted that the Project Cost of 129A Package--1 Peren Town Portion is Rs. 106.32 crore.
