Addressing a mammoth gathering of people at Public Ground, Kiphire on 14th November 2025, Union Finance Minister and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, said that her two day visit to the Aspirational District of Kiphire was filled with the admiration for the scenic beauty of mount Saramati and the colourful culture of the Nagas, and paid her tribute to the people for preserving the unique traditions and customs of their forefathers. Admiring the Apple Festival being held in Thanamir annually, she said Kiphire is blessed with rich mineral resources and has a lot of potential for social economic development.
She also mentioned the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds provided to the district and also to the states. Asserting the tremendous achievements of the NDA government under the able leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, she said the centre government is committed and is giving more importance for all-round development of the Northeast region.
In his speech, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along thanked the Government of India and the Union Finance Minister for her visit and providing Corporate Social Responsibility funds to Kiphire Aspirational District. Imna highlighted the unity and diversity of the great Indian nation, and informed that Nagaland Government is taking serious note to redress the unemployment problems in the state.
Earlier, the Union Finance Minister inaugurated the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) centre in Kiphire and interacted with the students of the Institution.
