The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department has issues a press statement in the wake of an unprecedented windstorm which has caused considerable damages across the State. Damages were reported to the NSDMA, Home Department from the district of Kohima, Kiphire and Noklak.
Initial damage reported from Kohima was that due to strong windstorm which fallen trees caused damages to parked vehicles at Raj Bhavan colony and caused havoc in some of the VIP quarters in the colony. Reports have also been received of a wild fire at Forest Colony, Kohima. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with all line departments have been pressed into action to take stock of the situation to provide safety for the people and properties of the colony.
Further, damage reports have also been received from Kiphire and Noklak districts where windstorm has caused household damages in Seyochung and Kiusam circle and Nokyan B Village, in Noklak district.
Further damage reports from the District Disaster Management Authorities are awaited during the filing of this report.
