The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that in the coming days, Nagaland will see heavy rainfall in nearly every district until June 5th, 2025, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning.
On the 29th May light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kohima, Kiphire, Tuensang, Phek and Mon. Squally wind speed reaching 40-50Kmph gusting to 60Kmph is very likely to prevail over many districts of Nagaland. From May 29th to May 31st, 2025, all of Nagaland's districts are expected to see heavy rainfall, with Kohima, Phek and Tseminyu districts receiving exceptionally heavy rain from June 2 to June 5, 2025, while the other districts may see extremely heavy rain from June 1st to June 5th, 2025.
As a result, it is vital to take the necessary measures at this period, including avoiding lightning strikes and high winds, which can disrupt communication and connectivity. Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland's lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli, are vulnerable to inundated water logging and flash floods.
In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department urges the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. The NSDMA, Home Department also requests all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
