International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women was observed at Tseminyu from 25th November to 10th December 2024. The District also held a one day workshop for government departments on sexual harassment at workplace & POSCO Act, on 3rd December 2024 in the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Office, Tseminyu.
In his keynote address the Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, Rohit Singh (IAS) said the POSCO Act is a gender neutral legislation providing for the welfare and safety of children irrespective of their gender protection of children from sexual offences, while the POSH Act. 2013 deals with prevention of sexual harassment of women at the workplace.
Giving a Powerpoint presentations, Neivotuonuo Rutsa, Legal Cum Probation Officer DCPO Tseminyu said that POSH ACT 2013 is applied to all workplaces in India are mandatory by the law to provide safe and secure working environments free from sexual harassment for all women. She also said, it ensures safe working spaces for women and to build an enabling work environment that respects women’s rights to equality of status and opportunities.
Childline Supervisor, Keben Keppen said protection of children from sexual offences Act (POCSO) is a comprehensive law to provide protection of children from the offences of sexual assault, sexual harrasment and pornography.
The program culminated with a vote of thanks by the CDPO Tseminyu, Menokhrielie and the program was chaired by EAC (Hq) Tseminyu, Ruokuosetuo Tetso.
