A one-day awareness programme on Startup Nagaland was successfully organized by the Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC), Pughoboto, on 8th May 2025. The event was held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Pughoboto, and saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and government officials.

ADC Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang, NCS graced the programme with an exhortation speech and lauded the Government of Nagaland’s initiative in promoting a startup ecosystem across the state. He stressed the need for local stakeholders to collaborate and support young innovators and business aspirants.

The highlight of the programme was an insightful presentation by Hekato K Jimo, Functional Manager, SDIC Pughoboto, who introduced the Startup Nagaland initiative and elaborated on the Nagaland Start-up Policy 2019–2023. He outlined the state’s vision to foster a vibrant startup culture by providing knowledge exchange, capacity building, and policy support, along with access to funding for budding entrepreneurs.

The FM SDIC explained that the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, serves as the nodal agency to implement the policy, with the overarching goal of positioning Nagaland as a model startup leader in the region. The policy aims to inspire the youth to become job creators rather than job seekers, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and innovation-driven economy.

The programme was chaired by Akali K Zhimo, LDA, SDIC, Pughoboto. The session commenced with a welcome address by SDPO Pughoboto, Hankiumong, NPS, who emphasized the importance of encouraging entrepreneurship among the youth in rural and semi-urban areas. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Yesheli Achumi, LDA, SDIC Pughoboto.

The awareness programme in essence reflected the growing momentum for entrepreneurship in Nagaland and the efforts of local institutions to bridge the gap between policy and grassroots implementation.
