The first open badminton tournament, particularly for women under Peren District, organised by the Peren District Administration in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Peren began at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Jalukie on 21st March, 2025.  The inaugural ceremony of the two-day event was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru as the special guest.

After the declaration of the tournament by the special guest, an exhibition match was played by the Deputy Commissioner & DPO Peren, I. Tsungrosongla Ao against ADC Peren, Keyirangding Hegui & CDPO Jalukie, R. Chirhotshu Nyusou.

The tournament is being held in three categories: singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Altogether, 55 women are participating in the tournament.
