The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Tuensang has successfully organised Jal Arpan Diwas at Chessore Village on 6th February and Sangphur Village on 7th February, under Shamator District, as part of the ongoing implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The programme was conducted under the supervision of Er. Lanu, Junior Engineer, and was supported by the JJM–ISA, Tuensang Division, in collaboration with Alongphi Welfare Society.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Village Council, WATSAN Committee, Water Quality Monitoring and Surveillance (WQMS) team, FTK users, and women members, highlighting strong community engagement in ensuring safe drinking water services. A comprehensive training session on water quality testing was conducted using Field Testing Kits (FTKs), enabling villagers to understand the importance of regular water quality monitoring at the household and community levels.
In addition, practical demonstrations on operation and maintenance (O&M) of the rural drinking water supply system were carried out, focusing on sustainability, source protection, and uninterrupted clean water supply. The programme emphasized community ownership and long-term responsibility for maintaining water infrastructure.
In the presence of the Village Sarpanch and Council Members, a Jal Jeevan Mission declaration and pledge was undertaken by the community, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding water quality, conducting periodic testing, and collectively maintaining the drinking water system for the health and well-being of all residents.
Meanwhile, the Jal Arpan Diwas Programme was also held at Sangphur Village on 7th February, under Shamator District, as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission’s community-centric approach to providing safe and sustainable drinking water.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Er. Lanu, Junior Engineer, with active support from the JJM–ISA, Tuensang Division, and Alongphi Welfare Society.
