The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) of Pughoboto held its monthly meeting at DB Hall on May 6, 2025, under the chairmanship of MLA & Chairman SDPDB Dr. Sukhato A Sema, with ADC & Vice Chairman Tiameren Chang in attendance. The highlight of the meeting was the felicitation of three schools namely - Government High School Lazami, New Foundation School, and Mission School for achieving 100% results in the recent HSLC examination 2025.

In recognition of their exemplary academic performance, the Board commended the schools’ dedication to education and acknowledged their contribution to uplifting the academic standards in the subdivision.

The meeting also spotlighted the SDPDB Educational Trust Fund, a monthly contribution initiative by board members that enabled free admission for students from Class 9 to 12 at Pughoboto Higher Secondary School. The effort aims to boost student enrolment and enhance access to quality education in the region.

Dr. Sukhato A Sema emphasized the importance of operationalizing the SBI Pughoboto branch for improving financial access across the subdivision. He directed that all government department accounts be transferred to the local SBI branch at the earliest. He also called for active promotion of the Central Government’s Senior Citizens’ Savings Scheme through local banks to benefit elderly citizens.

The Chairman introduced the Carbon Credit Program, urging individuals and community forest reserves to register for the initiative to avail funds for sustainable forest maintenance and carbon offsetting efforts.

SAKK President raised the issue of inadequate student accommodation during board exams, citing logistical challenges as Pughoboto town remains the sole HSLC exam centre in the subdivision. In response, Dr. Sema informed the board of progress under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, which includes hostel construction for both boys and girls in the area.

Key administrative issues were also discussed, including the need for all government departments to process their land patta applications through the Land Resources Office, with an emphasis on timely yearly renewals. The Chairman directed that the shifting of offices to the new Administrative Complex be completed within May 2025.

Ongoing infrastructure projects such as the construction of the SDO (PHED) Office and residential quarters, along with a new Veterinary Health Centre at Lazami were reported to be underway and will continue to receive board recommendations for their timely completion.

Yitachu Thur (EAC), Zakiesalie Yase (JE, Electrical), and Krelo Paul (Branch Manager, SBI Pughoboto were formally introduced as new members to the board.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from the board to address local developmental issues and strengthen governance in the subdivision.
