Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio laid the foundation stone for Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) Projects and inaugurated various facilities at Dimapur Government College (DGC), which includes Academic Building, Incubation Centre, Skill Hub, Girls’ Hostel, Commerce Block and Rest Room on 2nd November 2024.

Addressing the gathering at the college auditorium Rio, said women are not only progressing well in academic fields but also in political arena and cited the example of recently concluded ULB election where women won 8 more seats in general category then the allotted 33% quota.

Focusing on the importance of education, Rio said knowledge without character is very dangerous and urged teachers to educate students with moral foundation and make them responsible citizens so that when they finish their studies, they will become an asset rather than a liability. CM also acknowledged that every year more and more students are trying to get admission in DGC which is the testament of commitment and hard work of the principal and teaching staff of the DGC.

CM also applauded the role of Higher Education Minister, Temjen Imna Along, in developing and transforming the Higher Educational Institutions in the state.

Dimapur being the centre of opportunities and connectivity in the state, National Highways that cross Dimapur goes to south East Asia and so it will become the South East Asian Transnational Highway no-1 and to grab this opportunity, together we will have to produce responsible youths to make our state an economic hub.

Guest of honour Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Higher Education & Tourism in his short speech applauded the DGC, its principal and teaching staffs and asserted that the College is not only one of the best College in the state but one of the best colleges in the region and said the cut of marks is higher than many other private colleges, and students are so fortunate to have the best qualified teachers.

Imna advised the students not to seek government jobs alone after their graduation but one should be well trained not only in moral and disciplinary curriculum but also in the skills and in all of your abilities to resonate as successful citizens of the state.

Short speeches were delivered by Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education, V. Lovitoly Sema and State Project Director for PM- USHA, Higher Education, M Kire.

Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal DGC gave a welcome address while Kezhaleu Hesso, Vice Principal & HoD, DGC conducted a felicitation program.

Associate Professor DGC, Dr. Moongkala Longchar chaired the program while IQAC Coordinator, DGC Dr, Vinyuhu Lhoungu delivered the vote of thanks.
