Niuland District Administration organised the Samvidhan Hatya Diwas programme held at DC’s Conference hall, Niuland on 25th June 2025.
Deputy Commissioner, Niuland, Sara S Jamir in her address stated that the commemorating 50 years of National emergency that was imposed on 25 June 1975 is one of the most important events in Indian history. While recalling the period of emergency where rights such as fundamental rights, freedom of expression, censorship on media, independent judiciary and federal structure were suspended, was the darkest period in the political history of India
DC also said that the emergency period serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of democracy and importance of protecting fundamental rights and freedom.
Various government officers, Niuland Town Council Members, GBs and Public leaders attended the program.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by M. Khenpa, EAC Aghunaqa while SDO(C), Avonuo Kire pronounced the vote of thanks.
The program was chaired by EAC Niuland, Vitoka Yepthomi.
